Matching a font from an image
A clear, straight crop with several distinct letters is more useful than a small or heavily distorted sample. Separate the text from surrounding artwork and compare distinctive characters such as a, g, R and numerals. A close visual match does not establish the font's license.
Matching the correct style
Compare weight, width, slant and letter spacing separately. Similar families can share a broad appearance but differ in their terminals, counters or proportions. An outlined logo may also contain custom-drawn letters rather than an unmodified font.
Before downloading
Confirm the exact style and the rights needed for the project with the original publisher. An identification result is a starting point, not permission to copy or use a typeface.
